- Welcomed guests and new sailors to the island, issued hospitality kits (containing dishes, toiletries, and other necessities) to couples newly stationed on the island in order to ease their transitions.
- Trusted to manag the center on weekends from 9am to 6pm while the regular employees were off, duties included guiding less experienced volunteers, opening and closing a cash register, depositing money at the bank, ensuring regular operations went smoothly, and locking the center up at night.
US Navy, stationed on the USS Russell out of Pearl Harbor, HI Sep 2003 – Sep 2007
- Performed daily duties including troubleshooting and maintaining sonar equipment, and standing watch on sonar consoles to search for potential threats and large marine life
- Awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for identifying and repairing 5 critical system failures while the ship was underway for a major exercise
- Participated in over 70 deployment and retrievals of the AN/SQQ-89(V) ITASS sonar system, quickly becoming a vital asset to my division and a reliable source of knowledge.
- Contributed to crew morale during mandatory 6 month food service attendant duties. Worked hard, long hours in preparation of a Supply Management Assist review, resulting in an inspection score of 95.98%.
